First sample was found by the Iron Horses in Vantage.

My second sample was found in Moses Lake at Montlake Park.

And my third samples were found at Ryegrass rest stop just 17 miles from Ellensburg.

Glaze Samples

Randy's Red

Egg Plant Semigloss

Plum Red

All 9 of my samples:

Firing Clay Materials

I only chose 3 of my samples to pursue due to the graininess of most of the material I found.

Sample 2, Craigs Hill

Cone 6

 Cone 10

Sample 4, Mile marker 99 Highway 10

 Cone 6

 Cone 10

Sample 5, Mile marker 98 Highway 10

Cone 6

Cone 10

I added a shino glaze on all 3 materials to see how they would react and I am happy with the outcome. I also love the color that the material turned out to be. It has an intense purple tone.
These materials would not work well for throwing because they were not very maleable but they were easy to use for a pinch pot.

Finding Clay Materials

For my first location, I chose Craigs Hill which is right near the fairgrounds in Ellensburg, WA. This is where I collected samples 1 & 2.

For my second locations, I chose a spot near mile marker 98 on Highway 10 off of Highway 97 in Thorp, WA. I thought the material looked very maleable and clay-like. This is where I collected sample 5.

For my third location, I chose the volcanic lahar on Highway 10 near mile marker 99 off of Highway 97 in Thorp, WA. I took 3 samples from this location. This is where I collected samples 4, 6 & 7.

I collected sample 3 from a location outside of Ellensburg, but unfortunately it was rocks that I could not grind down enough to work with.
